Shady Oak Restaurant: Experience Authentic Florida Dining in DeLand

Classic Florida restaurant on river front with new dock. Very reasonable price and good food. It’s been around since 1954. Chicken wings are delicious and fries or onion rings.

What a nice experience. Great food. So much food for the 3 of us and it was only 25 bucks. I couldn't finish my meal. We had an awesome waitress, and as usual, I asked what her favorite thing for breakfast was. And she didn't steer me wrong. So so good. Almost too much food. None of us went away hungry. We had a great time. My friend has been coming there for many year and seen many changes. The new bridge and construction has affected their business but they are not deterred and are there when needed. I know the next time I'm in the area, I will be back.

This place is on right on the water, and the service is great! I got the sampler and loved the gator nuggets. The bone in catfish was really good, and I liked the hushpuppies, too. It's really cheap here, too.

I can't say enough about how good the food, beer, prices and service is. It is not the nicest looking restaurant by far but it is located on the river with indoor and outdoor seating. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good seafood dinner. They also have a great burger and fried mushrooms.

Ohhhhhh my goodness! What a great place to go! The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was nice, comfortable, welcoming, the view while eating was so pretty. The food was AMAZING!! The price was AMAZINGLY affordable.... 3 dinners, 2 appetizers, a sweet tea, water with lemon and 4 draft beers was $55. My daughter had clam strips, baked beans (her choice for the side dish) hush puppies was amazing! I had scallops and shrimp wrapped in bacon, onion rings and potato salad (my 2 sides of choice) & hush puppies... Amazing!!! My Sweetie Pie had coconut shrimp with a pineapple sauce/glaze with hush puppies and he chose Cole slaw.... We all cleaned our plates! We started with gator Bites and fried jalapeno poppers stuffed with cream cheese.... I've never had gator anything..... I'm a fan now! Super delicious!! If you have the opportunity to go here DO IT! It's worth the try.

Five star bar food! Excellent tuna salad, burgers, cold drinks and friendly prompt service! The setting is unchanged in the 50 years I've been going there. A return after some time away was great and bitter sweet. Remembering Otis and Myrtle and many others was nostalgic and sweet but the food and service was here, now and top notch! Thanks for respecting the history!

Great spot on the river for lunch! Sat outside and it was beautiful out! Service was great. She had a beer in her hand ready for my husband every time he was ready. Food was good. Had the grilled ham and cheese with (kinda bland) potato salad and my husband has fries and a blt. Service was a little slow but it’s ok because it was so nice and breezy sitting outside just enjoying the river.

Great place to relax. Very peaceful atmosphere. The food is always good. This visit it took a long time to get our lunch but it was hot and good.
